Apartment Review for Casa Monterrey - Huntington Beach, CA

The complex looks nice from the outside. But it's showing it's age. The walls may be thick, but the baffling between the first and second floor apartments is very weak. God help you if a small child, or children (who tend to run rather than walk everywhere and jump, jump, jump!) live or visit above you! We live on the first floor and have experienced this first hand... it's like thunder above your head! The water in the complex stinks, quite literally! Plus there is so much chlorine in the water... we would not recommend to people who have sensitive skin. Our cats got fleas from the carpet (never had before we moved here, EVER!)... plus, we've seen rats roam across our patio! EEEEWWWW!!! The parking situation for those who have 2 cars is very poor. Good luck after 7pm! And you better be prompt in the laundry rooms... or someone is liable to move your stuff the second the machine stops! (But I can't say that I blame them because there are those who leave their stuff in the machines for hours without consideration for others!) 204 apartment units and 12 washers and 12 dryers. You do the math! The maintenance staff is good. They do their best. They work hard but do check out at 4:30pm! (But at least they live on site --- they do respond to emergencies --- but they have lives too --- they could be out on the town!). It's an okay place to live. But I sure wish we I could afford to buy and move outta here.
