Apartment Review for Avalon At Pacific Bay - Huntington Beach, CA

I have lived here for just about a year now and overall I was pleased with the community. No one was overly rude or loud during my residence there. There were several incidents where noise was an issue but recently has been relatively quiet. As with most apartment noise is a problem. This complex has very thin walls. We live on the ground floor and when the upstairs residents walk up or down the stairs, it is like a herd of elephants out there. I am sure it isn't on purpose, just shoddy workmanship. I wish the kitchen was a bit bigger as well, I feel isolated in there most times as there is only one small window. The bathrooms don't vent well at all and have a constant mildew smell. Parking is horrible and each apartment is only allowed 1 assigned space,even for a 2 bedroom! I have to pay an extra $25 for a parking permit in my 2bd apartment, not good at all. If I ever have anyone over, then can stay overnight with a pass but run the risk of getting towed if it is not exactly in the right place. On the plus side, the patios are HUGE and the backyards that one may get are also quite nice. Each unit comes with a side storage area, though the ground floors get screwed out of 2 extra feet of storage space, COME ON! The master bedroom is the biggest one I have seen thus far. The staff at the leasing office are very friendly whenever I come in and maintenance is reliable and decent. I put in a repair request and it was fixed within 72 hours. The pool is nice, the exercise room is nice. Overall I like the complex and would recommend it to anyone without a baby because the noise levels are a bit too much and wake the baby sometimes. One last tidbit, our renewal paper came recently and the rent was lower than our original lease. I found this very refreshing and surprising.
