Expensive, Unsafe, No Parking, Broken Plumbing, Un

I have lived here for almost 1 year now and I am getting out of here as fast as I can. I just got a notice that my rent is going up $95 per month if I wanted to stay here. After I HAND delivered my typed 30 day notice, I got a phone call two days later asking when I was coming up to resign my lease for the next year. Are they crazy! They said that they had no record of my 30 day notice and that I would have to submit another one and that it would not take effect until they received it. Yeah, right. Talk to my lawyer. I have just found a beautiful, quiet apartment that is closer to the beach and I have TWO assigned parking spaces that I am moving into soon. Talking about parking - I have one assigned parking space here and have come home late at night to find someone else parked in my space at least 4 times so far. Twice, the invader was still in my space for two days straight. When I complained to the management, their reply was, "What do you want us to do about it?" What! I pay for that space! I learned that as a renter, you can call the HB police and they will connect you with a tow company who will come out and tow the vehicle. All you have to do is show your sticker for your parking space and show the tow driver that the car in your space does not have the numbered sticker. Yeah, it sucks - but at least it is a little revenge. And don't even think of coming home after about 5 pm because you will not find any parking at all. I have had to drive around for 30 minutes or more waiting for people to leave just to park at my own place! My neighbor has had their car broken into twice and I cannot tell you how many times I have seen the cops called out here. They come out with the whole CSI van and everything. Taping off an apartment and doing their thing. And the plumbing?!?!?!? Well, in the past year, I have had at least 3 floods. Yes, floods. The bathroom tub overflowed when someone upstairs was taking a shower. When I called the "emergency" line, it still took the maintenance people 1 hour to get there. By that time, it had overflowed all the way out into the bedroom. And the kitchen sink has overflowed quite a few times when someone else was running their dishwasher. I should buy a boat! Do not live here. It is wayyyyyyy to expensive for nothing and you will have too many headaches. Plus you can find something else that is cheaper and much better. |
