Apartment Review
the only good thing is the location

My friend and I moved into the complex because it's close to the 405, the beach, stores, etc. However, we were disappointed from the day we moved in. We showed up to move in and our apartment had been flooded a couple days earlier, but no one informed us of this, so we had to wait around until late that night to move in. The flood was not properly taken care of and there was residual mildew in the carpet. When we called to have this, and a few other problems, taken care of, it took about 3 phone calls without results before we gave up. This was normal the entire year we lived there. About 2 months before our lease ended, the water heater broke and flooded the master bedroom and hallway. Of course it was about 5:00 on Friday and we had to fight to get someone to come out. They brought in a dryer and left it for the weekend. During the weekend, a pipe broke behind the wall in the bathroom and worsened the flooding in the apartment. Again, fought with the after hours management and maintenance and the came out and took out the carpet in the hallway, but left standing water throughout the apt. I had to call them on Monday to remind them I STILL had leaks that were left over the weekend and had to be fixed, maintenance came to fix them Tuesday. They replaced hallway carpet with 2 different colors (not a problem) but then when the lease was up, they tried to charge us to replace the carpet! We lived with mold/mildew that they never completely cleaned up the last 2 months. We had to fight with them for MONTHS after receiving the bill for carpet damage and repainting (which was just normal wear and tear) that they sent us about 2 months after we moved out. Whenever we tried to have a problem resolved and needed to talk to a manager, we couldn't get one on the phone (they were always in meetings) and they would never call us back. We were early 20's college students when we lived there and we liked to have fun just as much as everyone else, but the noise was even too much for us. Loud music was the biggest problem, and management never tried to help (although they said they would). Parking was also an issue, difficult to find somewhere to park after 5. So, I guess my final words are rent at your own risk! |
